You may have seen if you follow me on Instagram or over on my Facebook page that over the Easter holidays we travelled en masse to Rock in Cornwall.
I have made no secret of the fact that I LOVE Cornwall. It's my happy place. I instantly feel happy as soon as I enter the county, maybe its got something to do with the fact that I am obsessed with fish and chips and can never resist a scone or two!
We normally stay in St. Ives but this Easter decided to venture further north up the cost to Rock. Having been a fan of Padstow from previous visits Rock had always been a place that had appealed to me so we looked about finding a house that would be big enough for all 10 of us.
We stumbled across West Country Beach Holidays and telephoned the lovely Ros. We spoke through our requirements and before we knew it we had booked 1, The Terrace.
The location was perfect - close to all the restaurants and bars in Rock and only a few moments away from the water taxi that takes you straight over to Padstow.
We arrived at 4pm and were given access to the house and first impressions were WOW! The house was even nicer than we had expected and given we were drawn to the house from the photos it's so nice when you are even more wowed when you get to see somewhere in "real life".

Given there were ten of use we needed somewhere that gave us enough living space and we were all keen to get a house with a kitchen big enough for us to cook and socialise in and 1, The Terrace certainly had that!

The kitchen was the area where we spent the majority of our time in the house. The children coloured and built Lego on the large dining table and many a gin and tonic was drunk whilst playing silly family games after dinner. Out from the kitchen was the decked dining area where the kids did laps and laps with their scooters!

The bedrooms were all well furnished and the property had been renovated to a very high standard throughout.
At no point did we feel on top of each other which is important when there are so many of you sleeping in the house. The property benefits from wifi which was key when you have three children in two who love a bit of Netflix. There is also a great speaker system in the lounge where you can sync your Bluetooth and listen to music - the kids loved dancing in the kitchen!

Valerie the owner was on hand along with her trusty team of Kim and Wendy who had prepared the house and were on hand for any niggles that we had.
The Terrace is perfectly positioned for getting out and about exploring Cornwall. Some of our highlights included....
This was a real gem of a find and the day we went it was pouring of rain so was the perfect place for a rainy day adventure. It was situated about half an hour from the house on a service station and is basically a big indoor soft play and climbing wall. We went here as part of Charlie's birthday present. It's incredibly reasonably priced at £4 per child for the soft play and £8 for an hours climbing. There is a McDonald's there too so we stopped for lunch there too.

2. Port Isaac
I am a HUGE Doc Martin fan and Port Isaac is where the fictional village of Port Wenn is and it's long been on my places to visit list and it did not disappoint! We met my brother in law and his girlfriend there (they had walked from the house in an epic 7 hour walk!) for a cider in the harbour. It is honestly on of the prettiest places I have been and well worth a visit.

3. Mackerel fishing!
Jon took Charlie out mackerel fishing for his birthday treat. The embarked on a three hour fishing trip and came back laden with mackerel for dinner. It was such good value at just £15 per head and given you got to keep what you caught it was well worth the money!

Padstow!
We loved Padstow. Half of the fun of going to Padstow was definitely the boat ride! It takes about ten minutes to get from Rock across the estuary and once you there there there are loads of restaurants, shops, pasties and ice cream to indulge in!

One way to keep the kids entertained is to invest in some equipment for crabbing! This will set you back £5 max and you can throw your line into the harbour and catch the crabs (that's if they don't escape first!). We did this on a couple of afternoons whilst sipping cider and it really was quite addictive!
Surfing!
My kids and Tom love surfing - they are happy just chuffing about in the sand and donning wetsuits even in cold weather! Polzeath beach is less than 15 minutes from the house and is the perfect spot for catching waves and making sandcastles!

We do really love visiting Cornwall and I genuinely cannot wait to get back down there for October half term!
If you fancy visiting The Terrace or are looking for a holiday home in the West Country then get in touch with Ros who was amazing during our stay.
We made some amazing memories this holiday and can't wait to make more in the future...
