Wow, it feels like forever ago that I wrote on this blog - but I have been a bit busy!
Three years ago, I took a leap of faith and said YES to starting my own online independent travel business. Today, I’m beyond proud to share that I’ve built a six-figure business and helped hundreds of others start their own journeys toward achieving the same.
Through Adventures By You and The Magical Travel Club, I’ve built an incredible team of like-minded travel enthusiasts who are now earning additional income doing something they love.
My mission is simple: to help as many ordinary people as possible create extraordinary lives through travel—with me right by your side, mentoring you every step of the way.
When I started my business, I was juggling life as a boarding housemistress and teacher, working six days a week in what felt like a never-ending cycle. Like so many others, I wanted more but didn’t quite know what “more” looked like. I didn’t want to be in teaching forever, but I had bills to pay, and I didn’t see a way out without swapping one job for another.
Fast forward to today: as I recently turned the fabulous 40 (hello, milestone birthday in November!), I’ve finally handed in my notice and will be leaving my teaching role at the end of the summer term in 2025. Let me tell you—it’s been a journey. It’s taken three years of consistent effort, determination, and stepping out of my comfort zone to build a business that allows me to pursue my passion for travel full-time.
Travel started as a hobby for me—a little escapism from the demands of teaching - and you know how much I love my Disney trips! I loved planning holidays (normally ones I could not afford!!), dreaming of my next Disney trip, and exploring the world whenever school holidays allowed. When I discovered I could actually earn money doing something I already loved, I jumped in headfirst. I honestly didn’t believe it was real at first, but I thought, Why not? If I could make enough to fund another Disney holiday, it was worth a try.
I started small, working my business in the evenings and whenever I had spare time. Two years in, I’d built it up to a point where I could leave teaching if I wanted to. The timing wasn’t right then, but as of last month, I’ve officially taken the plunge!
It feels incredible to look back and see how much has changed in just three years. What started as a side hustle has become my full-time income, giving me the freedom to work when and where I want. Along the way, I’ve mentored hundreds of people, helping them launch their own travel businesses and achieve their goals.
For me, travel isn’t just about holidays; it’s about discovering new cultures, gaining fresh perspectives, and creating experiences that stay with you forever. It’s the best investment anyone can make and the fact I get to do it with my family as part of my business is still a pinch me moment everytime we go on a new trip.
